As in other villages in the Bergamo area, in Martinengo there are many examples of the characteristic ring plan, where the fortification of the village and a deep moat protected the buildings of the village.
When we are in the heart of Martinengo, Via Castello is on the left of the town hall. It is sufficient to go a few yards to admire a majestic tower of fifteenth century origin: it is all that is left of an ancient fortress which belonged to the Martinengo-Colleonis.
