Agriturismo Tenuta Maria

Agriturismo Tenuta Maria

Description

The agritourism, with a restaurant service attached to the agricultural company, owned by the Testa family since 1977, opened its doors to patrons in '94 when Maria Teresa and her husband Luigi left their previous jobs, she a painter and decorator, he a teacher at Esperia.

The wine was already there, the fruit trees also, the goat breeding and the small dairy were giving their first results. With patience and tenacity, relying on their own strength, they completed the agricultural company with the breeding of pigs, donkeys and poultry but all in limited quantities, just to be able to directly produce what comes to the table.

The arrival on the scene of daughters Mariangela and Livia, who shared the tasks alongside their parents, completed the picture of an all-round family management, without any intermediation. And then, in the kitchen, she, Maria Teresa, takes charge of putting dishes on the table that show a considerable dose of sensibility. She has a delicate and pure hand like that of an affectionate and caring mother. We eat what she makes with very few alternatives (just how it should be, in an agritourism).

Cured meat appetisers produced by Mariangela complete with a touch of Norcia: salami, bacon, coppa. Then savoury goat’s cheese pie or kid liver pate. The fresh pasta pulled every day of opening is seasoned or filled with seasonal products. In addition to the classic casoncelli, these days the ravioli are filled with a goat’s cheese stuffing, wild herbs and cranberries.

Among the unmissable second courses, baby goat cooked in the oven, Cacciatore style, or leg with lemon zest and sage. Or the delicious punta ripiena and the donkey stew later in the season. The excellent goat cheeses, fresh and matured, with a floral or herb rind, are accompanied by original homemade jams with fruit and vegetables from the vegetable garden or the surrounding woods. Some examples: sour cherries and lavender; pears and rosemary; tomatoes and vanilla; celery and anise; eggplants and walnuts. There are also DOC Valcalepio or Igt Bergamasca wines produced by Luigi with cabernet sauvignon, merlot and marzemino grapes.

THE BILL: 27 euros, drinks and wines (own production) excluded

MORE INFORMATION:
Open for dinner on Tuesday; Thursday; Friday, Saturday and Sunday; for lunch on Sundays and holidays (reservations required). The direct sale of the products takes place every day from 9.00am to 7.00pm (better advise by telephone).
