Tutta in voi la luce mia. Painting of History and Melodrama

Tutta in voi la luce mia. Painting of History and Melodrama

Description

Novel, romance, and melodrama meet in the Accademia Carrara's major new exhibition, which gives you a journey through the exciting cultural climate of the 19th century.

The exhibition tour of Tutta in voi la luce mia will take you on a journey to discover the close relationship that was established in the 19th century between painting, literature and music, in the wake of the popularity of the new genre of the historical novel.
In that period, the birth of a more modern sensibility gave rise to a public participation that not only projected the arts onto topics and heroes closer to the human soul, but also intertwined them  together. It is precisely this fascinating interweaving that you will be able to explore at the Carrara-through portraits and great historical scenes created by masters such as Francesco Hayez, Michelangelo Grigoletti, Francesco Coghetti and Domenico Induno. Also significant is the relationship between Hayez and Verdi, united by popular topics such as The Lombards at the First Crusade and operas dedicated to tragic characters such as Anna Bolena and Caterina, familiar also for their musical re-elaboration by Donizetti.

Not to be missed!
