Accademia Carrara invites you to get to know one of the most interesting exponents of European Caravaggism, Cecco del Caravaggio.
Through about 20 works by the artist, from notable public and private collections in Italy and around the world, you will have a transversal and complete look at the work of Francesco Boneri, known as Cecco del Caravaggio (1580 -1630). You will also be able to compare his art with two works by Caravaggio, with those of artists who prove to be fundamental in the artistic training of the favourite pupil, and also those of artists he influenced.
The project focuses on a painter who is not known enough, investigates and looks at those "painters of reality" to whom this exhibition seeks to restore their rightful role in the European artistic panorama of those years, to which Cecco belonged.
