The Capital of Culture year ends in Bergamo with a schedule that will make your fall and winter memorable. Discover all the great events!

Dive into the magic of the Capital of Culture to end the year on a high note: from October on, unprecedented exhibitions, music, performances and installations await you in Bergamo.
Painting and melodrama intertwine in the new exhibition at the Accademia Carrara, joined by some great theater at Donizetti Opera and the show "Iliad. Il gioco degli dei" (Iliad. The game of the gods) with Alessio Boni and Iaia Forte.

From mid-November, The Blank Contemporary Art and the City of Bergamo bring to Palazzo della Ragione the incredible Fireflies on the water by Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, whose fame spans from New York to Berlin and beyond. An exhibition not to be missed-along with the many events that will mark the Christmas season, from the classic Christmas street markets to the unprecedented Christmas Design popular exhibition.

Opened in late September, the exhibition Tutta in voi la luce mia at the Accademia Carrara takes you on a journey to discover 19th-century art with its harmonious interaction between painting, literature and music.
From Oct. 8, GAMeC brings you the first Italian personal exhibition of Ali Cherri, known for exploring convergences between history, archaeological findings and cultural heritage through metamorphic narratives. The main focus of the exhibition will be a new video installation.
Another bright explosion will be Yayoi Kusama's extraordinary Fireflies on the water, for the first time in Italy, at Palazzo della Ragione in Città Alta, Nov. 17 through March 24. The visit also offers an immersive exhibition of poems, videos and documentation of the artist's world.
This year, the holidays will be all about art and elegance thanks to Christmas Design, the popular exhibition which, from Nov. 25 to Jan. 7, will bring art installations to 15 iconic locations in Bergamo. The theme is "Homage to Kusama, Infinite Present"-a real festival of lights!
History and music also come together in the traditional Donizetti Opera, sponsored by the Fondazione Donizetti. Come to Bergamo's magnificent theaters to enjoy great Donizetti opera! November 16 through December 3.
Another must-see event, Iliade il gioco degli dei (Iliad the Game of the gods), with Alessio Boni and Iaia Forte, comes to the Donizetti in December. This Prose Season show will show you the gods of Homeric antiquity reduced to pale ghosts, desperately wondering about their loss of power.
Le Mura nella Storia. Tesori di una città-fortezza del Rinascimento (The Walls in History.Treasures of a Renaissance city-fortress) shows you Bergamo's "Venetian stronghold,"with the Museo del Cinquecento, Palazzo del Podestà and other places in Upper Town with paintings, armor and other artifacts.
At the Museum of Natural Sciences you can enjoy Il sogno di un nuovo mondo (The Dream of a New World), the exhibition that-through artifacts, writings and interactive reenactments-tells you about the multifaceted and often mysterious figure of Costantino Beltrami, the Bergamo revolutionary who explored the Americas in the 1800s.
But don't forget the traditional Christmas street markets: they await you all throughout the province, from the city to the mountains, the plains and the surrounding areas, to delight adults and children alike with typical food and wine and handicrafts.
