We are the Capital of Culture!
SAVE THE DATE: in 2023 Bergamo and Brescia will be the Italian Capital of Culture, or "the illuminated city".

An extraordinary moment for two extraordinary territories, united in collaboration towards a future of growth, innovation and civility.

In the wake of numerous geographical, historical and cultural affinities, as well as the ability to regenerate with enthusiasm after difficult moments, Bergamo and Brescia become a single "illuminated" city and a single capital.

2023 will be a year of unmissable and international initiatives. There are four key themes: city and nature, hidden treasures, the city that invents and culture as a cure.

The union starts from the logo - with its "3" also doubling as a letter B - and continues at the management of events, which can be booked from a single site. A common transport system is also planned, which will easily connect all the places of interest.
Capital of Culture will not only involve the two capitals, but also their territories, with events, itineraries and new things to be discovered. A sneak peek? The new Bergamo-Brescia cultural cycle route.
All that remains is to wait for the program. Ready for a sparkling year? Let the countdown begin!

The illuminated city takes shape. Here is the programming dossier illustrating the strategy and actions that will be undertaken by the two cities in view of next year, presented on Monday 14th February 2022 to the Ministry of Culture:
