Taking a stroll along Bergamo’s XIX Century origins. Surrounded by an elegant setting we discover the historical cafes and the culture revealing itself to everyone who wants to find it - explore the latest opportunities to enjoy the Centro Piacentiniano!

Experiencing the beauty of the past while strolling along the Centro Piacentiniano, or sitting at one of the many historic cafes located under the elegant arcades, where you can almost breath our incredible history.

The War Memorial Tower was recently restored and opened back to the public last year: now it can be visited during weekends from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 3 to 6 p.m., or from Monday to Thursday by appointment.

Also a wonderful architecture gem opens back: the Santa Marta Cloister, located between Piazza Matteotti and Piazza Vittorio Veneto. You can take part in the guided tours (free of charge) every first Sunday of the month, or you can go admire it during the music event Ladies Sing the blues. Moreover, on May 21st and 22nd the Cloister will host the worldwide-renowned event Festival Danza Estate.

During these days, the architecture beauties of Centro Piacentiniano city centre is enriched by an outstanding cultural event, the “Fiera dei librai – The booksellers fair”, which is waiting for you with over 50.000 books. Within the Fair, on May 1st the first Photography Marathon of Bergamo will take place. From 9.30 in the morning to 3.30 in the afternoon, all the participants will follow a route across the beauties of the city, up to the Upper Town – Città Alta.

Piazza Dante and its Domus, the fantastic glass and wood temporary building, become the perfect place to display Bergamo’s unique products: in fact, the Domus has been housing the iSchool educational restaurant since April 6th, enhancing our traditional cuisine, while Piazza Dante began to host the “Mercato della Terra – The Earth’s Market”, giving everyone the chance to meet the producers and to taste and purchase their delicious products (on every second and fourth Saturday of the month, from April 9th to July 23rd).

On May 22nd the amazing classic cars taking part in the Mille Miglia race will come to Bergamo, passing by the Teatro Donizetti where they will be stamped. Italy is looking forward to enjoy this historic competition!

A centre for everyone, including the numerous children – both from Bergamo and its territory - “invading” the city centre thanks to the initiative called PiacentiniAMO, which offers guided tours designed for children in primary schools and first level secondary schools, also including some exclusive visits to the beautiful Teatro Donizetti!

Afterwards, children can also draw what they would like to find in the future Centro Piacentiniano on postcards and mail them: pizzerias, slides, bouncy castles, cotton candy? Maybe the next time you come to Bergamo some of their wishes will be granted…
