16th stage of the Giro d’Italia 2019

Description

The 2019 edition of the Giro d'Italia makes a stop in Bergamo with an huge beautiful and challenging alpine stage.

 

Expected departure on May 28th from Lovere and arrival in Ponte di Legno. 226km and over 5000m in vertical altitude gain.

From Lovere there is an uphill ride to Rovetta, and then a climb to the Presolana and Croce di Salven Pass. The route then includes the track from Ponte di Legno and the ascent to the Gavia Pass to reach Bormio and then climbs up to the Mortirolo Pass. Finally, passing through Monno, it again reaches Ponte di Legno for the final straight.

 

It is the most challenging and spectacular stage of the tour. The race starts from Lovere at 10:30am, the village will be open from 7:10am.
