Description

The 56th edition of the Festival is dedicated to two great musicians: Schumann and Brahms. Two great friends and colleagues reread by contemporary artists such as Grigory Sokolov, Arcadi Volodos and Misha Maisky.

In 1853 Robert Schumann met twenty-year-old Johannes Brahms, and immediately perceived his genius, describing his music as extraordinary "veiled symphonies".

The interpreters of this year's Festival will seize this timeless music and re-propose it by showing all its charm. Among the artists in the program are Grigory Sokolov, Arcadi Volodos and Misha Maisky, but also orchestras like the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Budapest Festival Orchestra. There will be two Italian premieres of young Russian pianists Ivan Bessonov, 16 years old, in concert in Bergamo, and Alexandra Dovgan, 12 years old, in concert in Brescia.

The festival will also host Stefano Bollani, in collaboration with Bergamo Jazz.
