Across Bergamo - Elisabetta Campanini

Across Bergamo - Elisabetta Campanini

Description

Hello everyone and welcome to Bergamo!

My name is Elisabetta and I am a free-lance tour guide. I was born in the Upper Town – Città Alta -, which surely is the most charming part of the city, so the places I’m going to show you are the ones where I spent my childhood, where I studied as I was younger and where I used to go back at night after a long and full day’s work.

Currently my occupation is to take you walk across my city, trying to make you enjoy what the Upper Town has taught me over thirty years as well as what Bergamo and its lovely territory have made me discover over so many years of work.

The streets and squares we will visit are the same ones that many renowned figures admired and walked, such as Bartolomeo Colleoni, Gaetano Donizetti, Henry Stendhal, Sigmund Freud, Hermann Hesse, Frank Lloyd Wright, Le Corbusier, Pope John, Ermanno Olmi,  Felice Gimondi and many others more.

Over the past ten years I have met people from all over the world, I described our local beauties in Italian, English, German and French. Anyway, surprise, awe and marvel speak a universal language that doesn’t need any translation. Moreover, even though I usually spend just one day with travellers, the time spent together is enough to enrich both of us: my goal is to make sure that everyone wants to come back to our city, to discover more flavours or more places. Whether it is a single tourist or an organized group, a cultural association, a company or a group of friends, we will certainly create the perfect pace enabling us to forget the stress of everyday life, even just for one day.

Of course we will meet the local people, who will let us experience a kind of atmosphere and warmth that no guidebook nor tour guide could ever be able to convey. We can also interact with them and listen to them explaining how the places we are visiting have changed over the years. They will tell us how they spend their everyday life and what is their relationship with the social fabric of the city.

After spending a whole “Bergamo-style” day, I am sure you will want to come back, maybe taking a few friends with you: I’ll be right here, ready to welcome you once again!
