Urgnano castle

Urgnano castle

Description

At the crossroad between the “Cremasca” and “Francesca” streets, two of the main commercial roads crossing Bergamo’s Plain, stands the Urgnano Castle, which has not lost a single gram of charm over seven hundred years!

We suggest you to enter from the Southern gate, decorated with a ravelin, a further external fortification protecting the gate, dating back to the XIX Century.

The interiors kept the military layout, but the building has been renovated as an aristocratic palace and gained a more opulent kind of beauty.

Going up and down the castle you will find frescoed halls, sumptuous decorations, XVIII Century furniture and a rich collection of ancient maps.

Once you’ve finished your visit, you can relax in the lovely and cosy Italian style roof garden, perfect for a break, protected by the thick walls: all the stress of the world will just stay outside.
