Sestini Photography Museum
There’s a new museum in Bergamo!

At the Convent of San Francesco, in the Upper Town, there is the new Sestini Photography Museum. A 360° experience into the world of photography, to get acquainted with Bergamo’s past. A journey back in time to discover the history of the places and inhabitants of the Bergamo area, enclosed in this new and unique photographic archive.

It is truly a museum open to all. In addition to the exhibition itinerary, a centre has been created for the conservation, cataloguing and enhancement of the photographic heritage that uses cutting-edge technology. There is also a workshop space reserved for educational activities, workshops, initiatives and events.

The west wing of the convent comes to life. 1 200 000 images, an invaluable archive in a 500-square metre exhibition. A place of discovery and knowledge in a constant dialogue with photography.
A single protagonist, photography. Daguerreotypes, prints, negatives on film and glass plate, original photographic instruments and equipment, and a specialised library with a catalogue of more than 600 volumes
A large window separates the exhibition space from the cataloguing environments, so that visitors can take a look "behind the scenes", at the daily work of the professionals.
