Collecting 100.000 subscriptions by November 30th: a very ambitious goal, indeed, but no challenge is too hard if it is moved by passion. San Nicola Convent in Almenno San Bartolomeo has been loved and lived for centuries and it is the perfect place to be nominated as one of the FAI - Italian National Trust most-loved places.

The convent was established after a vow by the people of Almenno, made to eliminate the 1484 plague. As they were exasperated by the terrible epidemics, they promised to build a chapel dedicated to Saint Sebastian and Saint Rocco in exchange for ending the plague. As a sign of gratitude, they built an entire monastery and a church featuring beautiful frescoes, consecrated in 1518 and dedicated to St. Nicholas of Tolentino.

Already 12.700 subscriptions have been collected, which made San Nicola Convent get to the first places of the national chart awarding those Italian places that deserve to be protected and enhanced. The winner will be given a contribute to spend in renovation works and in supporting the monument’s rebirth. However, it’s a long journey to the 100.000 subscriptions, so everyone has to support this cause. How? It is very simple: just click on this link, press the “Vota questo luogo - Vote this place” button and follow the steps to give your vote.

Help us making San Nicola Convent a FAI protected property! When you owe a treasure, you must hold it and protect it from the passing of time, so that everybody can enjoy it as long as possible.
